TRATADO DE MATERIALES DOMESTICADOS (2021-2025)

Frente a la manera en que la arquitectura en México ha sido narrada desde la historia colonial y moderna, se erigen múltiples y diversas historias en universos distantes del centro. Esta serie es un esfuerzo por documentar la Troje, un sistema arquitectónico que no ha sido posicionado en el escenario de dicha narrativa dominante. En contraste con los sistemas constructivos actuales, donde las materialidades y las formas que generan son producto de estrategias de homogeneización global, los sistemas constructivos vernáculos albergan estructuras diseñadas para contextos específicos.

Al hablar de la Troje, ilustrando su historia con imágenes de sus diversas y variadas ubicaciones actuales, busco confrontar el trabajo histórico en arquitectura, en el que sistemas afines han sido desplazados en comparación con el patrimonio de ubicación urbana; al tiempo que critico los programas de estandarización del estilo de vida, que a través de la vivienda social intentan establecer absolutos sobre la forma de habitar, ignorando las particularidades de los diversos contextos que atraviesan los territorios periféricos en México.

TREATISE OF TAMED MATERIALES (2021-2025)

Faced with the way in which architecture in Mexico has been narrated from the colonial and modern side of the history, multiple and diverse stories are erected, in universes distant from the center. This series is an effort to document the Troje, an architectural system that has not been positioned on the stage of said dominant narrative.

In contrast to current construction systems, where the materialities and the forms to which they give rise are the product of global homogenization strategies, vernacular construction systems accommodate structures that have been designed for specific contexts. When talking about the Troje, illustrating the story with images of its different and varied current locations, I seek to confront the historical work in architecture, where related systems have been displaced compared to the heritage of urban location; while criticizing lifestyle standardization programs, which through social housing attempt to establish absolutes about the way of living, ignoring the particularities of the diverse contexts that peripherical territories in México go through.
