UNA MANCHA NO OCULTA LA MESA (2023-2024)

Esta instalación documental se sitúa en el territorio donde la mariposa monarca habita temporalmente en Michoacán, México. El proyecto establece un diálogo entre un archivo de diapositivas fotográficas tomadas por mi padre en los años noventa y una serie de registros contemporáneos que incluyen vistas actuales y materiales extraídos del mismo paisaje. A través de una narrativa que pone en relieve los cambios acelerados en la región —derivados de la tala ilegal, el incremento del turismo y la expansión del cultivo de aguacate—, busco resignificar este archivo visual en relación con una crítica contemporánea a las transformaciones que han marcado dicho territorio. El proceso se alimenta de visitas de registro y recolección de materiales en distintas reservas del oriente de Michoacán. Como resultado, la obra se materializa en una instalación compuesta por imágenes, video y ensamblajes de objetos encontrados en la región.

A STAIN DOES NOT HIDE THE TABLE (2023-2024)

This documentary installation is set in the territory where the monarch butterfly temporarily resides in Michoacán, Mexico. The project establishes a dialogue between an archive of photographic slides taken by my father in the 1990s and a series of contemporary records, including current views and material extracts from the same landscape.

Through a narrative that highlights the accelerated changes in the region—driven by illegal logging, increased tourism, and the expansion of avocado cultivation—I seek to reinterpret this existing body of work in relation to a contemporary critique of the transformations that have shaped this territory.

The process is enriched by field visits and the collection of materials in various reserves in eastern Michoacán. As an outcome, the work takes the form of an installation composed of images, video, and assemblages of objects found in the region.
